This month we are pleased to host two timely presentations from highly experienced experts.

 

SQL Server Disaster Recovery  by Michael Zawadzki

During this session you will learn about high availability and data recovery options in SQL Server. It is important to understand functionality and advantages of each feature, learn about usage of these features in disaster recovery scenarios

Michael Zawadzki originally came to Microsoft as part of the Fox Software purchase in 1992 at which time he helped support the FoxPro product. In 1994, Michael changed over to supporting the SQL Server product which he still does today. During the 12 years supporting Microsoft SQL Server, Michael has had several roles in Product Support and has been an Escalation Engineer since 2000. Michael is a key contributor to the group in providing standardized data collection. Michael expertise with SQL Server extends across the breadth of the product but is also extends to great depth including areas of performance analysis and advanced debugging . Michael is currently working on Microsoft SQL Server Storage Engine Components and is the focal point of supportability of the new SQL Server 2005 feature, Database Mirroring.

 

Clustering for Mere Mortals  by Geoff Hiten

Learn about clustering in current SQL Server and Windows Server releases. Failover Clustering is a fundamental step for any High Availability SQL implementation. Learn how Clustering works, what are the new requirements for Failover Clustering, and how you can make the most of this feature.

Microsoft MVP, Geoff Hiten is a Principal SQL Server consultant for Intellinet. Geoff began working with SQL Server in 1992 with version 4.2 and has used every version since. He specializes in high-availability and high-performance SQL systems. Recent projects include: system upgrades, SQL Server platform migrations, performance tuning, custom reporting solutions, virtualization, and database strategy implementations.
